At every step of the visit, key aspects of the local culture and values will arise such as the efficient management of natural resources (management of palm trees, taricayas and fisheries) and the splendid craft works by the local artisan women who are experts at using unique materials such as a vegetable “ivory” called tagua, natural fibers (such as the Chambira), local seeds and the wingo used to produce delicate carved works.
Special mention deserves the visit to the artisan women group of the Community of San Jorge whose organization into a specific Committee of Artisan Women has been promoted and supported by Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge..
