Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge is located at the
Marañón River’s bank, and it is the only one
lodge inside of the buffer zone of the
Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve.
Surrounded by abundant rainforest, Pacaya
Samiria Amazon Lodge has been built in
accordance with the architecture of the zone and
offers comfortable 8 bungalows, each of them
with two single beds.
Every bungalow has a private terrace with view
to the Marañón River, incorporated bathrooms
with wall tile, access to the main garden and
all areas are protected with mosquito nettings.
Connecting elevated walkways lead to our
club-house, dining room, hammock room,
watch-towers and hiking paths. The House Club
with bar attention and dining room, offers
guests delicious regional food; a hammock room
and viewpoints that offer stunning panoramic
views of the Marañón River and the surrounding
forest.
Activities also include visits to the local
communities, hikes in primary rainforest, flora
and fauna observation, birdwatching, canoe
rides, piranha fishing, excursions during the
day and night, you can enjoy the spectacular
view from a 100 feet watching tower to observe
the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers
where the Amazonas river is born.
In the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve visitors
will also have the chance to observe The exotic
pink dolphin of the Amazon at their natural
habitat. On top of all of this, the
bird-watching programs have been designed for
you to experience the beauty and diversity of
the Amazon in its natural habitat.

The lodge have a direct communication system
by short wave radio with the city of
Iquitos.
Meals: At our dining room, visitors can
enjoy regional cuisine, as well as bar service.
Meals consist of soups and appetizers, salads,
main course, pasta, dessert, fresh fruits,
coffee or tea., also fresh water for our
visitors. If the passenger requires an especial
diet, please let us know during your booking.
Electricity: Electricity (220v) is only
available at night. Schedule from 6 pm. to 11
pm; Each room has a flashlight and a kerosene
lamp in the terrace
Others: We do have a library where you
can find out more information about the Pacaya
Samiria National Reserve and the species that
lives in its habitat.
Services are not included in the rates, and
beverages with or without alcohol must be paid
with cash in the lodge, because we do not accept
credit cards.
The lodge has five years opened to the visitants
who enjoy the eco tourism activity, our
specialized guides in ecotourism have many years
of experience working at the Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve, most of them are natives of
the communities who know very well the forest,
thats is why we are ready to give you all the
facilities to develop the programs and the
camping activity mentioned in the longer ones ,
we bring sleeping bags, small kitchen, portable
bathroom, tents, and some other things we will
need when we will spend the night at the middle
of the Reserve; also three boats belong to the
lodge, with a capacity of ten passengers,
roofed, quilted seats and life jackets for all
the passengers to make our trip enjoyable.
In every program we include the visit to a
riverbank village to observe the lifestyle and
daily activities of the people, such as hunting,
gathering, fishing or agriculture, where also we
can collaborate with the community development
buying typical souvenirs hand made by the
natives, made of seeds and a vegetable ivory
called tagua.
We recommend bring just one piece of luggage and
limit it to 15 kg. and also it is important to
mention that the lodge has some medicines just
in case an emergency related to snakes bites
could happen.
Location and Access
Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge is located 190
kilometers (120 miles) southwest of the city of
Iquitos,
on the banks of the Marañón River, at a short
distance from the
Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve.
All our programs include the pick-up in the
Iquitos' airport, terrestrial transfer from
Iquitos to Nauta and riverboat transfer from Nauta to
the lodge and vice versa.
