Peru is a fundamental destination for bird watchers, because
it has the second largest bird population in the world! When
it comes to Birds, Peru is home to more than 100 exclusive
or endemic species, at the same time it is important and
interesting to emphasize that the official list has been
expanded to approximately 200 species in the last 30 years.
The place’s beauty, as well as its biological wealth makes
the reserve an important destination for scientific
investigators, nature lovers and bird watchers.
The
Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve,
with 2’080 000 hectares, it is the biggest National Reserve
in Peru, also it is the biggest protected flooded forest of
the world.
Between its biological diversity we find 449 tropical bird
species grouped in 288 sorts and 61 families.
The specialized birdwatching programs include the visit to
the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve and the Allpahuayo Mishana
Reserved Area also located in the department of
Loreto, which owns a protected area with a singular
ecosystem combination. This is due to the reason, that it is
located in a place called “Ecoregion Napo”, a well known
area for its high indices of biodiversity, with 475 bird
species, more than half a dozen of them are only in the
white sands forests and known only in Peru. Some new bird
species discovered in both reserves are: Herpsilochmus
gentryi, Percnostola arenarum, Xipholena
punicea, Neopipo cinnamomea, and others.
Pacaya
Samiria Amazon Lodge
is the only one located in the buffer zone of the Pacaya
Samiria National Reserve, being built and designed according
with the zone architecture has comfortable bungalows with
private bathrooms and terrace in a surrounding paradise, and
thinking about your necessities it has designed four
conventional programs for bird watching and two specialized,
in order to reach all your expectations in your adventure in
the forest.
