Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge Experiencias Ecoturísticas

Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is the most important, extensive and diverse reserve in the Peruvian area. It contains the greatest number of Amazon floodplain ecosystems on its 2,080,000 hectares, which represents 1.5% of the Peruvian area.

The two major tributaries of the Amazon River, the Ucayali River and the Maranon River shape the boundaries of the Reserve.

Pacaya Samiria Reserve has recently been recognized (February 2015) as the "Second best place for wildlife in the world" (award given by the prestigious newspaper American USA Today) mainly due to its amazing biodiversity with more than 1,000 species of wildlife, 965 wild plants and large areas of palm swamps or "aguaje” forests, all what creates an unmatchable scenic beauty in the world.

Around and inside the Reserve and its buffer zone there are 203 populated centers that are home to more than 120,000 inhabitants.

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve can be visited throughout the year, both in the growing season (November-April) in which birds, monkeys and amphibians can be seen in all their splendor , and also in the low water season (May to October) when river water beaches are created, turtles lay their eggs and lizards, charapas and taricayas can be seen.
